Hi I'm a 42 year old adoptee.  I met both my bmom and dad last year for the first time.  It was wonderful and horrible.  I'm now trying to figure out when I can see them again and how to have some sort of 'regular contact' with them that we can all handle.  Mostly I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate all the feelings, emotions, connections and loss into my life, not a lot of success so far.

My adad has alzheimers and is mostly gone and I miss him a lot, he was my strongest emotional connection growing up.  My amom tries to understand my adoption crap but mostly can't.  My abrother and asister are as screwed up as I am by adoption but are both still 'thanking their lucky stars' to have been saved.

I am married and have three sons 8, 10 and 12.  I've been a stay-home mom now for over 12 years.  I was desperate to get out of the house when my boys were home all day but now that they're all in school full time, I find I like not having a job, imagine that!

I found this site through Joy's blog (I read from start to finish, could relate on a very deep level to a lot of stuff- thank you Joy) which I heard about on Michelle's adoptionshow.com (I've recently spent hours listening to all the past shows - it is SO GREAT - thank you Michelle).

I ventured into the internet adoption support arena a couple of years ago but got bitten hard by some angry bparents who were happy to take it out on adoptees.  In general I haven't found people very receptive to our adoptive experience unless we are thanking everyone and saying how happy and lucky we are.

I'm glad to find a place especially for adoptees.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences.  I'm looking forward to spending more time here.

*Peeks in door*

I'm the (birth? first? natural? I'm really so confused anymore) mom of a teenaged adoptee.

Recently it just really hit me that she's not a baby anymore and that adoption may just not be all kinds of wonderful for her.

I'm here to visit some friends, post occasionally, and try not to say anything stupid.  Smiley

Hi everyone....

I'm Sandy,  first mom to a son who will be 30 years old in June.

I'm here because I missed so many of the adoptees here (who probably have no idea how much I learned from them or even who I am).

Thanks so much for allowing me to join.
