Title: Adoptee Rights Protest 2008
Post by: Gershom on April 20, 2007, 05:58:32 pm
Okay, i'm ready to do it!!! Lets see how long it takes me to find adoptees in every state across the country who are ready to do it also. What is she asking about you may be thinking? Well, i'm about to tell you....

I think it would be powerful to have at LEAST one person from every closed record state across our country to enter their counties birth and record department at the exact same time, on the exact same day with media coverage behind them. We will be requesting our ORIGINAL birth records ( which will be denied ) and at the moment they are denied we can begin to have a non violent protest. I am willing to be arrested for this. And i am looking for other like minded adoptees who are willing to do the same. HOPEFULLY we wouldn't be arrested but that COULD happen.

Upon denial of our original birth certificate we can begin to vocally announce to everyone in the room how this is a denial of our civil rights. That we are being discriminated against due to our ancestry and that is a violation OF OUR CIVIL RIGHTS! That no other group of people in the country are denied these rights and we should not be denied them just because we are adopted. Adoption is not the witness protection program, and nobodies right to secrecy over weighs our right to our birth records. That there are adoptees in EVERY state across the country with media coverage as well doing a non violent protest and its going to get headlines. Does the records personal want to be like the bus driver who told rosa parks to go to the back of the bus, or do they want to do whats right!

During the course of this plan, we can outline a draft of what we can all say, but i believe this could be powerful. I believe that this could get national attention. I am ready and willing to do it, but i don't think it would get 'SEEN' enough unless there is AT LEAST one adoptee in every state, and more would even be better. So i'm putting this out there. I'm aiming for about a year from now in the year 2008. Possibly when others are marching in washington ( if that march happens.) This could be for the people who cannot afford to go to washington but want to participate as well.

I have JUST set up a central organization location, if you are interested in participating please join http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ARP2008.

How awesome is that step by step guide to having an ARD?

I joined; just let me know the date and as long as I'm not on the road, I'll schedule some vacation time to schlep on over to PA, or help with getting out the word.

I have joined as well.  Bad thing is I was born in Indiana but am now living in Texas.  By the way the Texas bill was killed by Gladney and the state Registrar because of money and the hardship of it all.  BOOOhoooo.  Please just open the records then.  Bill Betzen from Texas Care is still doing his protest of Gladney though.  I am going to write a few key papers.

SHE IS AT IT 24-7, GOES TO ALBANY TO LOBBY, TALKS TO LEGISLATORS....SHE DESERVES THE CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR OR THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE AND WHAT DOES SHE GET???? I agree ron. I know that some other man in the 90's tried it and it didn't work, but that doesn't lose my hope for this time. I think if we get the word out, they will come. And a huge rally like this along side another that is happening at the capitol at about the same time is really going to be awesome.

My faith stands strong about this. I do believe, and I have the will, so ... there IS a way!  :)
